Most importanly, building rapport and a strong foundation is key, but here are a few modalities I am most drawn to in my work.
Solution-focused: I believe that we all have the tools within to heal ourselves. In this framework, I help clients who are experiencing difficulty to find tools they can use immediately to manage symptoms and cope with challenges. I specialize in anxiety and depression and often times the related symptoms are extremely debilitating. This approach is grounded in that we may have the skills already to create change in our lives, but need help in identifying and developing these skills.
Cognitive behavioral therapy: CBT helps you to become more aware of negative thinking patterns. It helps you to view challenging situations more clearly as well as respond more effectively. CBT focuses on solutions and encourages you to challenge distorted thinking and behavior patterns.
